Biotechnology and Its Applications in Interior Design and Furniture
With tremendous technological progress ,that has occurred in the fields of genetics and biochemistry; research has tended recently to find materials that are organically degradable , it degrade in the soil after being buried Like living creatures after their death, and it is also useful for the soil . This is what biotechnology has produced in a world where sustainable development has become the password. Biotechnology is best defined as applied science based on the study of chemical and biological processes that take place inside the cells of living organisms, and then take advantage of those processes in multiple fields, such as medicine, agriculture, industry and the environment. This benefit is achieved through modern engineering techniques related to genetic engineering, which opened new horizons and wider applications. This research aims to shed light on this technological progress in the field of biotechnology in order to nominate multiple examples of biomaterials that can be used in the field of interior design and furniture, including for example bio-textiles and bio-leather. The research problem is that the health and environmental impacts of internal pollutants such as industrial materials used in interior spaces; is more influencing and multiple pollutants from the external environment. The research is based on the analytical descriptive approach to replace the pollution sources represented in the industrial materials used in interior design and furniture with other sources “biological materials “ that are safer on human health and more safety on internal and external environment.
