Abstract
Interior design in Egypt over the ages witnessed a change in features and characteristics, depending on the change of factors, cultures, concepts and tastes from one era to another, and the beginning of the history of interior design in Egypt goes back to ancient Egypt, where the ancient Egyptian was interested in creating distinctive design models that express him, his environment and beliefs with techniques and raw materials It is either selected from the surrounding environment or imported in order to improve its products. Then came the rule of the Ptolemies who respected Egyptian styles, were influenced by them and learned from them, and the Islamic ages came to carry the cultures of other countries in line with the Islamic faith and achieve its principles, so the interior design in each of the Islamic eras had its own characteristics and details that distinguish it from others, with the rule of the family of Muhammad Ali Pasha, especially the era of Khedive Ismail, the interior design turned to imitate Western styles, then successively other influences appeared, such as Turkish, Andalusian and others, and a stage came Another transition in interior design features with the beginning of republican rule, started with Soviet influences During the era of Abdel Nasser, and through Western and American influences during the era of President Sadat, and leading to the emergence of a mixture of trends and models, the interior design lost its distinction during the era of President Mubarak
