The Role of Visualization in Supporting The Creative Process in Interior Design Studios
Contemporary life cannot be imagined without images. Visualization is linked to visual thinking, and visual thinking is an attempt to understand life around us through the language of drawing, which is linked to imagination, and imagination depends on vision, which ultimately leads to “creativity” and a creative design product. The existing research dealt with a comprehensive study of the three mechanisms of visualization, which are “vision or reading design” , “imagination” and “drawing and expression” in addition to the role of the “visualization” process in supporting the “creative design process” for the interior design student inside the design studio and coming up with new, innovative designs. Research hypothesis: Using the concept of visualization during the design process for students of the Department of Interior Design and Furniture, leads to support and increase their creative design process and its reflection on the final designs. Research Methodology: -Analytical descriptive. - Deductive. Research objective: - Improving the creative design process in design for students of the Department of Interior Design and Furniture by focusing on the concept of “perception” while they are inside the design studios. Research results: The three mechanisms of vision, imagination and drawing for the visualization process are not separate, but they are linked together, and the transition from one stage to another with the possibility of returning to a previous stage for improvement. Creative thinking depends on "vision" first, then "imagination" effective translated into "drawing", which prompts the student to produce creative designs characterized by originality.
