Abstract
The architectural space is no longer just a place in which a group of functional activities are practiced, but it can be transformed into an artistic formative enriched by sculpture with a set of interactive tools that transform in the mind of the recipient into mental images distinct from the architectural spaces.
So the role that sculpture plays in how to perceive shapes, sizes, colors, shades, textures and the three dimensions of space opens the way In front of activating the components of the architectural space without restrictions and motivating the recipient to interact with it in order to achieve maximum benefit from it at the aesthetic and functional levels.
The problem of this research is concentrated in the following question: What is the role of sculpture in urging the recipient to meditate and form mental images, and its importance lies in revealing the possibility of using sculptural elements in raising the aesthetic and functional value of space in order to build an integrated mental image. Sculpture based on building mental images of spaces leads to improving the efficiency of the interactive relationship between the recipient and the space, all with the aim of revealing the effectiveness of the role of sculpture in forming the cognitive, emotional and behavioral dimensions of mental images of architectural spaces.
The research is limited to dealing with the sculptural elements that make up the internal and external architectural spaces, and a selection of these elements in contemporary sculpture.
