Abstract
The research examines the historical and technological advancements in visual effects and the use of chroma key techniques in film and animation. It discusses the evolution of cinema and television alongside the development of visual effects, from black screens to blue screens and the digital age. Chroma key is a post-production technique that combines visual elements by removing backgrounds and inserting new ones, creating a realistic coexistence of different elements. The choice of blue or green screen depends on various factors, including the filmmaker's vision. The study emphasizes the need for accurate application of the chroma key system in the three production stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. It draws on references, global and local film applications, and expert opinions from the Egyptian cinema and animation industry to identify the steps that impact the visual outcome. The research provides recommendations on technology application and highlights the importance of raising awareness among the crew, particularly the cinematographer, to ensure high-quality results and avoid visual errors.
