The Industrial Design Role in Supporting the Retro Style and Evoking Nostalgia

Abstract
The retro style is one of the aesthetic styles used in the field of industrial design, especially the products used in the interior decoration of homes. This style adds a vibrant appearance as a result of its color theme and aesthetic general lines, in addition to its evocation of feelings and memories from a recently passed era. Designers use many products and home appliances as part of the general framework of retro decorations, so this research aims to clarify the role of product design in supporting the retro style and arousing nostalgia. Another aim is clarifying the difference between the retro style and recycling in product design. The research also includes an explanation of the differences between retro, vintage and antique. The research assumes that industrial design products have a role in supporting retro style decor, whether alone or in collaboration with vintage or recycled products. It is also assumed that there are several types of industrial design products related to the retro style that can be classified. One of the most important results of the research was establishing a new classification of retro-style products. The elements that are reviewed in this research were also used to illustrate how industrial design can support the retro style in designing products that can be used in the decor of this style for nostalgia lovers, and how modern retro style collaborates with vintage and recycled products to support this style. This is done by using the descriptive analytical approach .
