Abstract
Gothic culture appeared in Europe during the late Middle Ages. It is considered a transitional period between the Romanesque style and the Renaissance, as it was distinguished by its distinctive architectural buildings. In a related context, Gothic literature flourished during this period, as authors paved the way for future generations. This type of writing is often explored Themes of horror and everything that is supernatural. Gothic was characterized by the creation of distinctive elements, as these elements were used in many films with the development of the field of cinema. However, Gothic details are often included in the art of animation, which has shown parallel developments to cinema in history. The research problem demonstrates the possibility of benefiting from Gothic culture and its influence in shaping the history of animation. The importance of the research also confirms the impact of Gothic culture on animated films that are characterized by horror and supernatural elements. The research also aims to raise the aesthetic level by seeing the influence of Gothic culture in both visual aesthetics and storytelling techniques in animated works that combine horror and supernatural elements. . The research results in this study explain: The interaction of the Gothic style with animated cinema, which appeared in advance, is also examined. Gothic details in architecture, cinema and the animation works of Disney and Tim Burton are examined. The aim is to create an infrastructure for a more detailed study that differs from the existing topics within the scope of the research.
