Abstract
Contemporary art relied mainly on symbolism, Symbolic connotations and visual iconography, their design, and their role in forming sources of visual information. The artist sought from the beginning to create models of connotations and formative art relationships and sought to know their impact on the semantic structure, which is the general form of organizing various symbols.
The formal meaning of the symbols and its meaning in contemporary art deserves research and study because of its different meanings among cultures and peoples of the world’s origins, as they may be similar in form but differ in their meanings to the recipient from one culture to another, as the artist-designer draws inspiration for his symbols from multiple sources, which have a language. Especially in expressing concepts and ideas, and because contemporary art related to collage consists of a set of symbolic connotations that form the artistic basis through visual results that differ among themselves according to cultures, peoples, and the artist’s experience.
Understanding the nature of the symbolic connotations, their formal structure, and their aesthetic value in different cultures, and focusing on the meanings and connotations used in contemporary art, especially in the field of collage, are among the most important points that stimulate the researcher’s thinking, as the research follows the experimental approach through a presentation of the subjective experience of applying the research in the state of India.
