Abstract
This research explores the relationship between contemporary mosaic art and the application of Gestalt theory principles, which focus on how the human mind organizes and interprets visual information as a cohesive whole. The study aims to understand the impact of these principles on viewers' perception and interaction with artworks. By examining and analyzing certain contemporary mosaic works, the research highlights how Gestalt principles such as proximity, similarity, continuity, and closure are utilized in the design of these pieces and how they enhance visual perception. Additionally, the study discusses the challenges and advantages artists face when applying Gestalt principles and offers recommendations for improving viewer interaction with mosaic art. The research seeks to make new contributions to the field of visual arts, enhancing viewers' aesthetic and perceptual experiences, thereby contributing to the development of mosaic art and visual arts in general. The research problem centers on answering the following question: Can the application of Gestalt theory principles improve visual perception and aesthetic interaction with contemporary mosaic works? The focus will be on understanding how Gestalt principles are used in the design and execution of contemporary mosaic art and how this influences viewers' experience and interaction with the art.
