Emotional Artificial Intelligence and Enhancing Interactive Interior Design
Higher Institute of Applied Arts, 6th October, Giza, Egypt.
Abstract
Interior design is undergoing a significant transformation with the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), which now serves as a personal assistant to designers, suggesting design ideas based on user preferences. While AI integration in design is gaining acceptance, a new frontier emerges—AI capable of analyzing emotions and body language to adapt interior spaces dynamically to users' psychological states. This research explores the intersection of affective AI and interior design, aiming to develop a framework for designing responsive interior spaces. By leveraging AI-driven emotion and body language analysis, the study examines how AI can enhance user experience, boost creativity, and create dynamic environments that adjust to users' emotional conditions. It also evaluates the feasibility of applying these technologies in interior design. A key challenge lies in bridging the gap between AI-based body language analysis and interactive interior design. Despite advancements in both fields, a lack of integrated frameworks limits the potential for emotionally responsive environments, affecting user well-being and experience. The study underscores the importance of affective AI in shifting interior design from a static discipline to an adaptive, user-centered experience. It concludes that interdisciplinary collaboration among AI experts, interior designers, and environmental psychologists is essential to advancing this field. By fostering an intelligent and responsive design market, the research aims to develop smart interior environments that detect and adapt to users' psychological states, ultimately enhancing comfort, productivity, and well-being.
