Digital Twin as an Innovative Tool in Interior Design Development
Department of Interior Design and Furniture, Faculty of Applied Arts, October 6 University, Egypt.
Abstract
The world is experiencing rapid technological advancements driven by digital transformations, with the Digital Twin emerging as one of the most cutting-edge technologies that have revolutionized various fields, particularly interior design and architecture. The Digital Twin has become a leading tool that provides a dynamic virtual environment, allowing users to interact instantly with digital models. This technology is based on creating an identical digital replica of interior spaces, accurately reflecting design details through the integration of 3D modeling, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). Despite notable advancements in utilizing the Digital Twin, questions remain regarding how its integration with AI and IoT can enhance interior design processes. In this context, the study aims to shed light on the concept of the Digital Twin and explore its role in advancing interior design. The research hypothesis suggests that the Digital Twin can enhance the quality of interior design by providing analytical and interactive tools that support precise and efficient decision-making in design processes. To achieve this, the study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology by examining case studies of Digital Twin applications in interior design and architecture, highlighting the advantages and challenges associated with this technology. The findings indicate that the Digital Twin represents a promising tool in interior design, offering significant potential for improving design efficiency, thereby making it an essential element in the evolution of the field.
