Abstract
In light of escalating environmental challenges such as climate change and global warming, there is an urgent need to adopt sustainable practices, particularly in the building and interior design sectors, which are among the highest consumers of natural resources and contributors to carbon emissions. This research addresses the continued reliance on conventional interior design approaches that use non-sustainable materials and high-energy-consuming systems, thereby exacerbating the environmental impact of buildings. The study aims to explore mechanisms for integrating green technologies—such as renewable energy sources, recycled materials, and smart lighting and ventilation systems—into sustainable interior design strategies to reduce energy consumption and emissions while enhancing indoor environmental quality. A descriptive methodology was adopted to clarify the core concepts. The results indicate that incorporating such technologies can reduce energy use and carbon emissions by up to 35%, improve indoor air quality and user comfort, and decrease long-term operational costs. Accordingly, the research recommends implementing sustainable interior design standards and promoting the integration of green technologies in buildings as a key step toward addressing environmental crises and achieving healthier, more efficient, and sustainable living environments.
